On 16 June 2026, the Pan-African Progressive Front convened an online webinar bringing together over 25 organisations and movements from more than 14 countries across Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora to deliberate on the implications of UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/250 and the path forward for the global reparations struggle.
The webinar, titled "Next Steps: Beyond Diplomacy to Grassroots Reparation Action," was convened one day ahead of the High-Level Next Steps Conference on Reparatory Justice opening in Accra, Ghana on 17 June 2026. Participants included liberation movement officials, trade unionists, student organisers, political bureau members, and pan-African civil society representatives drawn from West, East, Central, and Southern Africa, North Africa, and the diaspora in Europe and North America.
Following deliberations on the UN resolution, the role of PPF in the reparations space, and the obligations of Western governments — including France — at the Accra summit, participants adopted a Statement of Commitment as the collective outcome of the conference.
The Statement affirms the UN resolution as a political opening requiring movement-led action, sets a clear accountability standard for debtor states, and commits signatories to an African and Caribbean-led reparations framework, cross-continental coordination, and sustained struggle against imperialism in all its forms.
