The Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF) has congratulated Pan African Television on its 10th anniversary, while celebrating veteran journalist and founder of the network, Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jnr, on his birthday.
In a message issued from Accra, the PPF described Pan African Television’s decade of broadcasting as “10 years of unbroken struggle to put African questions before African eyes,” praising the platform for challenging narratives about Africa shaped by external and imperial interests.
The organisation said Pan African Television has played an important role in creating a media space where issues including African sovereignty, justice, reparations and the continent’s political and economic independence can be debated from an African perspective.
The PPF also highlighted the growing relationship between the two organisations, pointing to Pan African Television’s role as a major media partner at the Front’s recent conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the historic Manchester Congress.
According to the PPF, Pan African Television helped take the discussions, ideas and voices from the conference to a wider African and international audience.
“This is Pan African solidarity in practice, not in slogan,” the organisation said, stressing that African liberation requires not only political mobilisation but also media platforms capable of advancing African ideas, history and demands.
The Front also used the occasion to honour Kwesi Pratt Jnr, describing his decades of journalism as marked by a “principled” commitment to African sovereignty, justice and self-determination.
The PPF said Pratt’s commitment to the African cause had helped build a media institution whose influence now extends beyond its original base.
“As our work continues, the Pan-African Progressive Front recommits to strengthening this alliance,” the organisation stated.
The Front expressed the hope that Pan African Television would continue to expand its reach while remaining committed to the principles on which it was established.
It also wished Kwesi Pratt Jnr many more years of “strength and purposeful service to the African cause.”
