International Youth Forum — Africa’s Freedom Is In Our Hands

On Saturday, 5 September 2026, the Pan-African Progressive Front (PPF) will convene the Youth Forum on Debt and Reparations — a full-day gathering at the ISSER Conference Hall, University of Ghana, Legon, from 10:30 AM to 3:45 PM.

Convened against the backdrop of a continent-wide reckoning with colonial debt and the unfinished business of reparative justice, the Forum responds directly to the deepening crisis of debt bondage across Africa — a crisis thrown into sharpest relief by the Alliance of Sahel States’ rupture with French monetary and military control, and by Ghana’s own recent passage through default, austerity, and IMF-monitored restructuring. It builds on PPF’s ongoing continental reparations and debt-cancellation campaign, and stands as a deliberate step on the road toward a larger Sahel-region forum on colonial debt cancellation and reparations.

The Forum brings together AES students and youth resident in Ghana, other international students, and Ghanaian youth — close to 200 participants in all — alongside speakers spanning student organisers, journalists, trade unionists, and pan-Africanist movement figures, to turn a continental crisis into concrete youth-led action.

Three Landmark Outcomes

  • A Youth Action Agenda on Reparations — concrete, youth-authored proposals for the role young people can play in advancing the reparations cause, developed in Session One: Youth Role in Reparations.
  • A Grassroots Toolkit for Reparations Action — practical flashmob and micro-legal-claims tactics for pursuing reparations from below, developed in Session Two: Reparations Flashmob and Micro Lawsuits.
  • A Youth Position on Debt Cancellation — an analysis of the global debt trap and a set of demands on colonial debt, developed in Session Three: Debt Cancellation and the Global Debt Trap, feeding directly into PPF’s continental reparations and debt-cancellation campaign.
